1 Strengthens the immune system
Beta-glucans, high doses of vitamin C and nucleotides are well-documented nutritional supplements that stimulate the immune system. This enables the body’s defence mechanisms to be better equipped to combat pathogens and repair damaged tissue.

Protec stimulates the mucous membrane in the intestine helping to maintain structure and function, particularly for fish held in sub-optimal water temperatures. Intestinal health dictates the absorption of nutrients from the feed to the fish – a healthy intestine means better nutrient assimilation, therefore more robust fish. Strengthened intestines also provide the barrier against bacteria and viruses, which may cause illness.
3 Modified intestinal micro-flora
A unique mixture of natural additives ensures that Protec has a positive influence on the micro-flora in the intestinal tract.

Protec fortifies the fish’s store of antioxidants and vitamins. When and how to use Protec
Protec should be used leading up to stressful events, such as the onset of summer, grading events, or known periods of higher disease risk.
- Protec should be used for 2 weeks prior and 2 weeks following events such as grading.
- Protec should be used 4 weeks prior to the onset of summer or known periods of increased disease risk. A recovery period of 4 weeks using Protec should follow these events.

For example, Orient SF assists fish to combat the ill effects during extended periods of sub-optimal water temperatures, such as those experienced in the summer months. Specifically formulated to counteract the chronic effect of environmental stress, Orient SF is your warm water specialist by administering active nutrition on three levels.
1 Improved feed intake and micronutrient availability
A reduction in feed intake due to high water temperatures leads to an energetic imbalance and nutritional deficiencies. Orient SF is a highly palatable diet due to the specific incorporation of selected raw materials. In addition, Orient SF is fortified with additional vitamins and minerals.
2 Enhanced digestion and liver protection
The liver and pancreas are essential organs for digestion and metabolism, but are compromised during summer months. Orient SF contains raw materials with high digestibility, and has a reduced energetic content so as to not place further burden on functioning organs. Additionally, natural protectors are also included for liver protection.
3 Active components
In addition to the specific selection of raw materials, micronutrient addition, altered protein to energy ratio and liver enhancers, Orient SF contains the same active components, beta-glucans, extra vitamin C, nucleotides and a mix of natural additives, as the new health feed Protec.
When and how to use Orient SF
Orient SF should be used continuously when water temperatures result in a reduction in feed intake. Orient SF should be preceded by the use of Protec for a period of 4 weeks. Protec should also be used for an additional 4 week period once water temperatures return to fully recover fish.
