Matthew provided an update on global trends in salmonid production, in particular the crisis that has engulfed Chile and lessons that can be learned from that particular industry. Trends in freshwater trout production in the EU were also discussed, trends which have recently been dominated by increased costs of production and dwindling margins.
Further discussions were also had regarding trends in raw material replacement, and the current status of Australian aquaculture, most notably the significant investment in plant and equipment within the Tasmanian salmon and trout industries.
